The i3 EVO has the largest dustbin of all the robots that we evaluated at 0.5 liters.

The i3 EVO like most robots requires regular maintenance to perform effectively. iRobot suggests cleaning its brushes at least once a week -- or twice if you have pets. The robot should be turned over and press the green button to let the brushes go. Then, pull out the brushes and gently wipe them clean with microfiber cloth. Also, you should clean the six sensors on the bottom of the robot.

When purchasing a new Roomba it is important to keep in mind that the brushes and filters supplied by the manufacturer need to be changed regularly. You can track the status of these components by navigating to the Product Health tab in the irobot pet series app. The i3 EVO filters should be changed every two months and the brushes should be changed every six and 12 months.

iRobot’s patent-pending Dirt Detect Technology utilizes sensors to detect dirtier zones and increase suction in the areas. This feature is particularly useful in homes with lots of furniture as it helps the robot avoid getting caught under objects and ensures that all surfaces are cleaned. The i3 EVO also works with Alexa and lets you control it with voice commands. It doesn't come with the same features to avoid obstacles that other models have, such as the i8+, j7+ and s9+.

Roomba 694

The Roomba 694 is an excellent entry-level robot vacuum. It's small enough to fit under most furniture and is very thorough when it comes to cleaning. It works well on bare flooring and removes pet hair effectively (though not as effectively as more expensive models). It has limited automation options and isn't compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant.

The 694 is powered by an interchangeable Li-ion battery that is user-replaceable. It takes approximately two hours for the battery charge to be fully while the bot is docked in Home Base. Once fully charged, the 694 can continue the same way it left off in the last cleaning session or start a brand new one. It has an RCON and infrared sensor that keep it away from stairs.

This Roomba features a premium style and is available in black, white, and red. Its ninja-like shaped round shape is highlighted by the matte black plastic around the sides and an iRobot logo on the top. A large button with green text that says "Clean" sits in the center, and spot cleaning and home buttons create an elongated ring around it. A light on top shows status and battery levels. A green outline indicates it's got sufficient power, and a red one indicates it's not charging or is on the charger.

Although the Roomba 694 does not have a self-emptying feature as the more expensive models however, it does a great job of emptying its internal dustbin every time it goes back to Home Base. The bin can hold around 60 days of trash, and it's simple to empty it manually: just press the release button then slide it out. put it in the trash, and put it back into.

Like the majority of Roomba models The 980 is equipped with a suite of sensors to help navigate your space. The iAdapt 2.0 navigational system will map your home as you go, recognizing distinct features and creating a map based on pictures that helps the robot to navigate more efficiently. The 980 is now able to skip areas that have been cleaned before and is much more intelligent when it comes to bumping into furniture or other obstacles.

The 980 comes with a range of sophisticated cleaning sensor. The robot's two multi-surface brushes are designed to capture large amounts of dirt and debris, and the smart Power Boost feature increases the vacuuming power when the robot is cleaning carpets. The only real niggle with the 980 is that it doesn't include a spare battery, so if yours dies you'll need to purchase one online.

Roomba 960

iRobot 960 the most popular model currently, is a great choice for those seeking an efficient robot that comes with smart features. The robot can be started by pressing a button, through the app, or even using voice commands via Alexa and Google Assistant. It can be scheduled to clean after a set time.

The 960 performs well on carpeted and un-floored flooring. Its iAdapt sensors adapt to the surface and its dual rubber brushes work together to pick up pet hair and not get tangled. It also has a full bin sensor that alerts users when the bin is getting close to being full. It makes use of the irobot roomba vacuum mop Home App to control the robot and set cleaning schedules.

Its navigation is excellent and it can easily navigate a massive, single-story home with both bare and carpeted floors. It was able in our tests, to return back to the docking station once a cleaning cycle had been completed. Its ability to map and detect dirt are also impressive, and it can remember the pattern of a particular area or even locate debris on the floor. It can even crawl under and around many obstacles, including chairs and table legs.

The 960's downside is that it doesn't come with the carpet boost technology of the 980. Its cleaning performance is not as good as the standard set by the other models in this line. But, it does provide decent cleaning for the majority of homes and is a great value for money.

Like all robot vacuums, the 960 will need replacement maintenance parts from time to time. The iRobot app monitors the frequency at which you need to replace the dust bin, filter and spinning brush. Expect to pay about $35 per year for these replacements. You can buy replacement parts directly from irobot with mop or through third-party sellers.
