Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

First, put the fob of the key on a clean surface with the logo side facing upwards. Locate the button that releases it, then wedge an object between the fob and the cover and then pull it up with care.

Locking the Door

They can even operate the sunroof, provided it's equipped. You'll never have to look for your keys, or get locked out of your vehicle.

If you're a new Volvo model that we have in our dealership, then you may be unfamiliar with some of its key fob's hidden features. You can use the manual lock/unlock feature in case your key fob battery goes out.

To unlock the manual lock or unlock button hold your key fob with the volvo replacement keys logo facing upwards. Find the black button near the edge of your key fob and gently press it. This will open a cover which conceals the manual key blade. The cover can be flipped clockwise using a flathead, or coin.

The Engine is Ready to Start

Modern Volvo key fobs offer the convenience and functionality that is not available with traditional manual keys. But, just like any other battery-powered electronic device the key fob may be depleted of its charge or cease working after a certain period of time. If you've noticed that your key fob is less responsive to pressing the lock or unlock buttons, it's an indication that it's in need of a new battery.

If your vehicle is equipped with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also utilize the key fob to activate this feature. The car will then cool or heat to the same setting it was at while parked. It will continue to run for a maximum of 15 minutes.

Use a fingernail to remove the cover from the back of the key fob. Under the cover on a diagonal, close to the body's edge you should find an unidentified button. You can remove it by sliding it downwards and to the right. The cover will come loose and slide off to reveal the manual key blade inside! If you still can't locate the button, search around the newly exposed manual key access to determine whether there is a hidden slot or lever.

Closing the Windows

volvo truck key replacement key fobs have an option that hides behind them that allows you to immediately roll down all windows. This is a great feature in situations where you need to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or just need some fresh air while driving.

To unlock your Volvo, press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and also the sunroof in case your car comes with one. After you've finished using the vehicle, you can shut all the windows by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.

You can also use your key fob to turn on your car's panic alarm. This will produce the alarm sound loud enough to draw attention and deter thieves. It also helps you return to your home in a safe manner even if you've been out for the night. This feature comes in handy if you are living in a secluded area or wish to safeguard your family while they're away.

Opening the Tailgate

Turning Off the Alarm

Modern key fobs offer an array of benefits over a conventional mechanical car key. But, they're not working flawlessly forever, and their batteries eventually fail. If you're in a hurry or aren't keen on going to an establishment to have your key fob reprogrammed, you can make it work at home.

Find a clean work surface and lay out your key fob, battery, as well as any additional keys. Find the small black button located at the bottom left corner on the key fob, then move it to the right. The cover should fall off and reveal the mechanical key blade beneath.

Press the key fob's unlock button twice quickly and you'll be able to unlock all the doors as well as the tailgate.
