UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time, the handles on your doors will get worn out and will require replacement. When replacing them, it is important that the new handles match the critical dimensions of the old handle.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a modern-day door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This kind door handle is available in a wide range of styles and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The door handles of uPVC/Composite are made of sturdy materials and are ideal for doors with multi-point locks which require a robust design. The handles are inline, and they use the same spindle and screws to fix them. They can be easily installed on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The sprung lever design allows the handle to be placed and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the quality of finish and performance is maintained over time. The lever that is sprung can be reduced to accommodate a wider range of locks. This is particularly useful for narrower doors where the cylinder is further back from the door. A lever that is shorter can be used for doors with latches that can be activated with the thumb inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles commonly found on doors. These handles are operated by one spindle or two spindles inline or offset. They are typically employed on UPVC double glazed window handles-glazed doors and come in many variations & finishes.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including White chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle an outstanding performance and durability to serve its intended use.

All UPVC handle lever pads include a spindle and screws and can be mounted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a larger size of handle which can be beneficial when replacing a damaged or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also sprung, solving the problem of door handles sagging from their horizontal position when not in use.

When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ on the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement can also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important to match the correct handles.

Once you have the correct PZ size, you'll be required to make sure that the lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you require for your doors. These are usually square or round with an internal lever, and an external door handles and locks push pad.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are typically found on replace upvc window handle doors, but they can also be found on other types of doors. They operate with a key to unlock a cylinder that then reveals pins which can be aligned to those inside the lock body, permitting them to turn the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is crucial. It's dependent on the use that your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for example, should be fitted with cylinders that are more secure while doors inside can be secured using the standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders are available with extra features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

A euro cylinder needs to be properly measured to ensure it's the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the other end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it with the lock in position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks such as lock snapping, so it is essential that it's not too long.

The design of most newer cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease attacks by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This can help deflect the attack, and keep your door safe.

There are also cylinders that have been designed to resist snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A specially designed tool is used to break the break line of the lock and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a much faster and more convenient method of gaining access than through a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which can make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located within the base of your door handle's backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their rest position after using. In the past, a lot of these types of handle didn't have a spring built into them and without this they are more likely to slide or drop once the locking mechanism is disengaged. This component is the best solution to solve this issue. It also prevents your upvc door from becoming stuck in either the closed or open position since they are difficult to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung and you'll have to cut a hole into the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please look at the image for a more detailed diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes within the door handle backplate of various kinds of uPVC doors. They have a square cut-out that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and are sold as a set.
