Cyberpunk 2077 Item Upgrading Guide

Item upgrading is a key component to maximizing the power of your gear. It lets you add additional bonus stats over the value of your basic item.

Each upgrade template comes with a set of options which can be changed via the GUI. These options include the upgrading reference and the possibility of upgrading.

Upgrade components

The method of upgrading weapons, armor and other gear in Cyberpunk 2077 has been reworked as part of the 2.0 update. Upgrade components are available throughout Night City, and the item that you want to upgrade must have an upgrade slot. The game will display a preview of the item's expected stats after upgrading. It will also display the component or material required. If you do not have the required level of component or resource to upgrade an item then the button will read "Blocked."

Weapons and armor can be upgraded along with some trinkets and gathering tools. The upgrade slots on all of these are filled with different upgrades that give you bonus points or other effects while the equipment is being used. These upgrades can be obtained by crafting, bought from a vendor, looted or acquired as rewards.

There are two types of gemstones and universal upgrades. Universal upgrades, which are like gemstones, can be put in any type of equipment and provide an inferior bonus than other upgrade components.
