3 Wheeled Buggies

A 3-wheel buggy is perfect for off-road walking & taking on terrains, from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They can also be easier to manoeuvre up and down kerbs than 4-wheel models.

Stability

With four wheels and a central point of gravity that's balanced by the weight of your child in the seat, 4-wheel buggies are generally thought to be more stable than 3-wheelers. However, that doesn't mean a three-wheel buggy isn't worth considering, since many of these models are made to handle everything from rough terrain to busy high-streets.

If you want a buggie that is easy to maneuver and won't be a problem on muddy roads, opt for one with big rear wheels and a lockable front wheel. These buggies are typically equipped with pneumatic tyres, too. They are excellent for handling non-paved surfaces and can be used on sandy beaches or tracks in woodland.

Choose a model that has a the ability to lock the swivelling wheel on the front to aid you in navigating difficult surfaces.

The fact that there is only one front wheel can also be a reason that three-wheelers tend to be heavier than buggies with four wheels when folded. MFM reviewer Kath found her tri-wheeled buggy to be able to perform well on both urban and countryside walks.
