iRobot That Vacuums and Mops in Your Home

iRobot J7/J7+

The iRobot J7/J7+ is a robotic vacuum that's also mop, meaning it can handle your entire cleaning routine. It was a great performer in cleaning in our tests, taking up 9.35 grams of debris per hour, which is higher than the average pick up from a full-sized robot vacuum. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant and lets you control the mop and vacuum using your voice, rather than using an app.

It features a clever, compact design and a sleek base. The mop is equipped with a tiny reservoir of water and a robot arm that raises and lowers it, while an indicator on the bottom informs you when the mop is low. The robot has excellent navigation and can move around your home without hitting obstacles. It is difficult to navigate through certain carpets, and it may stop working if it spots an area rug.

iRobot vSlam Navigation isn't as accurate as the other robot vacuums we've tested. During our tests, the robot zigzagged randomly before creating maps. We didn't find this to be a problem in actual usage, but it was annoying when we tried to establish a particular cleaning route.

Another cool feature is ability of iRobot to recognize objects that are in its path. It makes use of a camera as well as PrecisionVision to recognize things like shoes, cords, toys and pet waste to avoid them or go around them when cleaning. Their iRobot Combo j7+ takes the great Roomba V7 and adds an arm to lift and lower an incredibly small water tank as well as mopping pad. It can vacuum or mop at the same time or conduct an additional vacuuming session.

The iRobot app lets you label rooms and create cleaning zones to let the robot know what areas to focus on and which areas it should avoid.
