iRobot Combo Essential Cleaner Review

The iRobot Combo Essential is its first robot that is focused on the basics of cleaning. It has a sleek, smart design and a mop that does the job well.

iRobot OS allows you to start cleaning, stop and schedule it directly via the app. It also offers personalized suggestions, maps/obstacle-avoidance pictures and provides suggestions based on your preferences (opt-in). The Clean Base autofill dock charges the batteries, empties the dustbin, and refills water tanks.

Filled with cleaning supplies and powered by iRobot OS, this 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop lets customers take two chores off their list with one convenient device. It features intelligent navigation, three levels of suction that are powerful, and up to 120 minutes of battery life. With its sleek low-profile design and Edge-Sweeping Brush, dirt can't get caught in corners or under furniture.

The 4-Stage Cleaning System utilizes adjustable suction and liquid settings as well as a V-shaped multi-surface brush, and an emulsified microfiber mop pad to scrub multiple floors in a single step. It also has 18x more suction2 and an Edge-Sweeping Brush to help eliminate dirt and dust at the edges of rooms and under furniture. It also comes with iRobot Home App control, cleaning schedules and precise Clean Map reports.

Using the iRobot free app, users can select from a range of cleaning modes, including spot-cleaning, automatic, or mop-only. The app allows customers to determine the time of start and stop and pause the cleaning. The Combo Essential also supports voice control integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, so you can initiate cleaning using a simple voice command.

When the Combo Essential is done cleaning, it will return to the docking station automatically and empty the dust bin in the dirt bin. Based on the amount of dust the Combo has collected it will need to be emptied regularly. The app also allows users to keep track of and control the cleaner's battery and a change of mop pad reminder, and other information.

GearBrain will be testing the new Roomba combo Essential in the coming weeks however, we can already say it's a great upgrade to the 600 Series that is budget-friendly. We're impressed that it's loaded with smart features and still provides a clean and powerful performance even with a lower cost.

What is the Roomba Combo j9+?

iRobot has established itself as the leader in the field of smart vacuums and mopping and its newest model, the Combo j9+, continues to build on the previous model. It is rated as having the best dust and dirt pick-up performance and uses an intelligent mopping solution that is powered by the brand new iRobot OS. The latest software offers robots "smart cleaning preferences" and allows them to automatically clean rooms based on the needs of the room. For instance they could pay more attention to the kitchen floor and increase the pressure on the floor scrubber when in the entryway, or boost the suction power for carpeted areas.

The j9+ is a great choice for large homes with a variety of flooring types, since it can pick up dirt and debris on both carpeted floors and bare floors. Its navigation system was sturdy and it was able to avoid obstacles in our tests. It also has the ability to see pictures of objects it encounters on an exercise, which helps it to better map out routes and avoid hazards in the future.

Its mops are simple to replace and comes with a large water tank that should keep it going for about one month between refills. The dustbin on board is large and comes with a swinging door that makes it easy to empty. While it is self-emptying well however, you'll need to manually remove the filter every now and then in order to prevent clogging.

The Clean Base Auto Fill dock is another great feature. It will automatically empty and refill the robot's water tank. It's a feature that many of its competitors lack and is a great feature that cuts down on the number of hands-on maintenance tasks you're required to perform.

The irobot self emptying Vacuum application is easy to use and intuitive, but it does have some shortcomings. It doesn't offer a live coverage map view or remote control function however it can be difficult to use. It's also prone of losing connections and frequently will leave you out, which isn't the best experience. It also doesn't let you specify a time when the robot to finish an assignment.

What is the Roomba Combo j7+?

The Combo J7+ is a true 2-in-1 robot mop and vacuum. It has a 3.8-star rating on Amazon and it's one of the most intelligent mopping robots there (though rivals like the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni and the Roborock Q5+ are better at cleaning up messes). It comes with a test bottle of iRobot's own cleaning solution, however, the help section suggests Bona Hardwood/Hard Surface Cleaner is good alternative that won't damage the device. The front caster wheel is able to be removed for cleaning and its socket must be cleared of tangled hair and debris every week.

The Combo J7+ is designed for use on up to 60 floors, though the number of floors you can clean per charge depends on your floor type and frequency. Battery life can last up to 90 minutes. The Combo J9+ robot cleaner is the newest from iRobot. Although it doesn't have the bells and whistles of the newer (and way more expensive -- they start at $1,800!) Floor cleaners from robots are capable of delivering a thorough clean on carpets and hard floors. Its major strengths are its robust navigation and obstacle avoidance system, as well as its remarkable mopsweeping performance.
