Following a series of social media posts that hinted at it, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini finally announced its NFT (non fungible token) Project. Space Key is being developed by a non-publicized artist and based on the latest carbon fiber composite materials that were shipped to the International Space Station as research material, is a project which was announced by Lamborghini.

The product was developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm).

Italian supercar maker Lamborghini is diving its toes into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The new project, which is dubbed the Space Key, is a piece created by a lone artist. The NFT is an exclusive piece of digital art that can be accessable via a QR code. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned in the coming weeks.

The Space Key is made of carbon composite material that Lamborghini, in the course of a research project in the year 2019 and sent to the International Space Station. The carbon fiber was crafted into a unique artwork after it returned to Earth. The physical element is imprinted with an NFT serial number, which is tied to the digital artwork via a QR code on the back.

NFTs for those not familiar, are unique identifiers that are recorded on a distributed ledger of the blockchain and linked to an digital asset like a photograph video, song, or any other kind of record. This allows owners to verify the authenticity, scarcity and trackability of their tokens over the internet.

Working with NFT PRO, a white-label NFT solution for businesses, Lamborghini will take this unique approach to art to a new level. In the coming weeks, Lamborghini will release information about this exciting project. This will include the names of the artists unknown to them and a schedule for auction.

The physical element of Space Key

It was developed in collaboration with an unknown artist, the NFT is a collector's item that will be auctioned off in a couple of weeks. The core of the NFT is a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 as part a research project. The carbon fiber has been 3D printed to form the basis of each Space Key, which is linked with an exclusive, digital design using a QR code on the back of the key. Just five Space Keys have been produced.

NFTs are unique identifications that are recorded in distributed ledgers like the Blockchain and linked to a digital asset like images. It's a hot subject among people with more money than they have common sense. So it was only a question of time before automakers decided to take advantage of.

The digital artwork

After weeks of social media posts that hinted at it, luxury automobile maker Lamborghini finally revealed its first venture for tokens that are non-fungible (NFT). The Space Key is a collection of five items that unlocks a unique digital artwork by the yet to be identified artist. The project was developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm) the collector's piece is limited to five units and will be auctioned off in the near future.

The core of each Space Key is a block made of the most advanced carbon fire composite material that was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research project. After returning to Earth the block was engraved using a QR codes that link to the digital element in the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that takes place at different times when the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. More than 600 million pixels each of the five images, that were taken by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner used a balloon with a camera to capture each of the individual shots which were later merged into the final image. The result is an out of this world image that captures the beauty of the Earth as well as the futuristic, hyper-realistic view of the car key lamborghini rising away from it. The Space Keys will be auctioned off in the near future, but the exact date and location of the auction hasn't been set yet.

The auction

With the tagline 'to the moon', the prestigious automobile maker Lamborghini has entered the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFT) by launching a hypnotic project created in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm). The Space Key is essentially an NFT made of carbon fiber composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 for research purposes. The actual sample was shaped into five unique pieces that link to unique digital artworks created exclusively by an artist whose name has not yet been revealed through the QR code.

The auctions will be held from February 1 through February 4. They will run for 75 hours and 50 minutes - the time it took Apollo 11 for him to leave Earth and enter the Lunar orbit. By registering online, you can bid on five NFTs. Each NFT will be sold individually and the winner will receive a digital artwork by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner that captures five different moments the Space Key experienced during its flight through space.
