iRobot Roomba combination adapts to your cleaning routine and suggests programs that are appropriate for you. Smart mapping, automatic schedules, and Clean While I'm Away are some of the carefully selected iRobot OS features.

The iRobot App allows you to review images captured by the Combo J7+ to figure out the areas it shouldn't go into (such as lamp cords). You can also customize your map by drawing specific areas that the robot must avoid.

Vacuuming

The Combo Essential has a powerful 4-Stage Cleaning System that vacuums and mops in one sweep and grabs dirt from hard-to reach places like under the couch. Additionally, its Clean Base Auto-Fill Dock empties debris for up to 60 days, and refills liquid for self-cleaning that lasts longer than the competition. It's also compatible with a wider range of cleaning products than any other 2-in-1.

The roomba combo is also a powerful mopper, but it is missing some of the most advanced features that make the Roomba J7+ an impressive sweeper and mover. If it detects a moist surface it switches from mopping mode to its sweeping mode. A small robot arm lifts the combination water tank and dustbin, and when you press the button on the side of the cleaner, a new pad slides in and is ready to go.

Its navigation was in line with the top iRobot robots I tested and it was able to make good progress even when the route wasn't entirely well-defined. It's not very good at avoiding obstacles, but it's quick to recognize and avoid larger objects like toys and socks.

The app lets you modify your schedule, create an individual cleaning route and set up Keep Out Zones or Clean Zones to tell the robot where it should be. It also shows a summary of what it has accomplished and its health state. It can also be paired with Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant enabled devices for voice control. Intelligent platform from iRobot continuously updates Combo’s software by adding new features and capabilities.

It uses Imprint Smart Mapping for learning your floor plan. This lets you tell the robot to mop any area you wish, whenever you like. SmartScrub, powered by iRobot OS is able to apply consistent pressure and deeper scrubs** to take on tough dirt. It also learns from previous cleaning missions. It prioritizes rooms with the most dirt, and adjusts settings such as suction and scrubbing power. The Clean Base auto-empties debris and refills the tank for 30 days of hands-free cleaning and it's compatible with the majority of suitable cleaning solutions.

Object Detection

iRobot combination robots detect and avoid objects such as tables, couches, stairs chairs, laundry hampers, pet toys and other household clutter. They also use sensors to recognize carpets and rugs. Then, they adjust their cleaning settings in response to the recognition, assisting to prevent wet mess. They have an automatic sensor that tells them when to stop cleaning and clean and resurface.

Smart Mapping allows Roomba to map your home seven times faster and name rooms so that you can begin cleaning faster and more efficiently. You can also customize Keep Out Zones and Cleaning Zones. The app or voice commands paired with Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant let you direct Roomba to specific rooms and areas.

Roomba is able to recognize and avoid more than 80 common objects including power cords and backpacks. It also knows how to stay clear of toilets and litter boxes and pets toys. The iRobot Combo J7+ can also identify and keep clear of solid pet waste using Precision Vision Navigation.

You can see the history of cleaning done by your robot, including maps and images. You can select the Dirt Detective option to prioritize cleaning the dirtiest areas first. You can also see an estimate of the time to know the length of time your Robot Vacuum Mops will stay at home. iRobot OS also sends you helpful suggestions, such as extra cleaning schedules for pet shed season. You must be comfortable with the idea of giving up personal information to any smart home device which manages and stores the data of your space. In our tests, every company we reviewed was asked about the security measures for sensitive data. iRobot says that it doesn't sell customer data and has outlined its Privacy Principles on its website.

Navigation

The Roomba Combo uses Imprint Smart Mapping technology to learn and map your floorplan and then re-maps it if needed. You can map your room and then set the cleaning preferences from the iRobot App. The Roomba will clean that area automatically during future missions. Roomba also comes with Dirt Detective, which automatically prioritizes your most dirty rooms for the most frequent vacuuming or mopping. Its PrecisionVision Navigation can recognize and avoid objects like charging cables as well as socks, shoes and pets toys. This feature can help you save time when trying to complete a task.

Battery Life

The Combo j7+ is powered by a powerful lithium-ion battery that offers plenty of capabilities to clean your home. The dust bin and water tank hold a total of 400 and 200 ml respectively, and the robot has a high-efficiency filtration system that captures dirt particles and stop them from returning to your floors. It also has iRobot's app and voice assistants, making it easy to control the robot using your smartphone or other devices.

Another feature that is great is its capability to capture images of objects, which help the Combo j7+ avoid those objects in future cleaning runs. However, iRobot chose not to include automatic washing of mop pads as we've seen more premium robotic cleaners include recently. This isn't a major issue however it would be nice to have this feature included on the Combo J7+. The Combo j7+ has an outstanding warranty and is simple to use.
