You can replace the Volvo key fob batteries by following a few easy steps. Find a clean area to work on. Place all the tools that you'll require. Find the battery's hatch and turn it open using an open-ended flathead, coin, or another similar tool. Next, carefully pry the battery out of its socket by lifting it on the side closest to the key-ring loop. Wear rubber gloves to shield the clips and electronic contact surfaces.

After the battery is removed, place the new one into its socket. Make sure that the positive side is facing up and that it's seated in all the clips. Slide the cover towards the key-ring portion until it loosens and slides off. Then, remove the cover to reveal the hidden key blade. You can use this to unlock your car from the driver's doors when you've lost Volvo Key fob or damaged the key fob.

Note: Older Volvos use a different battery which is the CR2025. CR2025 batteries have the thickness of 7/10ths one millimeter lower than a CR2032 and you'll have to be very careful when replacing your battery.
