The X2 Omni robot vacuum-mop is the latest in Ecovacs line of hybrid robot vacuum mops. This model is equipped with Ecovacs' new AIVI 3D 2.0 lidar system that offers better mapping and obstacles avoidance. The system is dual-laser LiDAR which is similar to what is used in self-driving cars -- and can scan up to 32 feet wide by 270 degrees. This means more precise mapping and faster response times and greater cleaning accuracy.

It also has a rotating mopping pad made of chenille, which makes it easier to scrub hard spots than traditional mops. During my tests it was able to clean the X2 Omni washed its pad in just a few seconds and was ready to go. I noticed that it was more precise than other models which seemed to follow the grid of rooms. It was adept at navigating my rooms' corners and edges, and also create a "Zambani pattern" across the middle of the room. It returned to its OMNI Station regularly to empty the dustbin, and clean the mop using hot water, before starting another cleaning task.

The X2 Omni is as simple to use and set up as other Ecovacs products. Simply snap the dock into place then plug it in and pair it with your home WiFi network. It takes just about a minute. After that, you can launch the app and get started with your first task of cleaning. I was able dive into the settings and personalize my floor plan in about 15 minutes, incorporating zones that are restricted for sweeping and mopping as well as reworking my wall-mounted furniture placements, and so on. In our tests of hardwood floors and kibble it performed well and picked up everything from a single grain of rice to multiple pieces of dog food in one go. It had some trouble with rugs however, generally speaking this vacuum cleaner is perfect for large rooms that contain both types of flooring as well as a mix of pets.

The A4s Pro is a bit expensive but it's an excellent buy for people who want to be able to leave the house with no hands on so they can get out and do other things or do chores. The A4s Pro has a convenient auto-cleaning feature that increases suction to tackle difficult dirt or spills. It also has a battery-powered ElectroWall to define the boundaries of the robot.

This budget-friendly choice from a well-known brand is the cheapest model we've tested to date and offers an incredible value for money. The basic navigation system employs a super-basic random pathing algorithm that isn't equipped with room mapping capabilities, making it less time efficient than the other models on this list. It's still able to navigate under furniture and into the corners. Its mopping mode performed very well in our tests by picking up hairs and other debris.

Shark's iQ may not be as sturdy as the Roomba S9, but it is superior in general at cleaning up pet hair on all surfaces. It is more effective of cleaning carpets with low piles and bare floors. It also utilizes smart-pathing navigational software for greater maneuverability. It can be sent to a specific area, and includes a variety of advanced automation features including no-go zones and schedules. It also allows you to stop and resume cleaning making it ideal for homes with pets.

Its self cleaning brushroll prevents knots and holds up to 30 day's worth of dirt. It comes with angled side brushes to reach into corners and a multi-stage filter system to capture dust, dander and allergens.

This vacuum feels solid and well-built, and it works with a smartphone app which lets you alter its vacuum settings and schedule cleaning sessions ahead of time. The app also lets you view the remaining battery life of the iQ and receive push notifications about any issues it encounters during a cleaning process. You can also control it using your voice with an Amazon Alexa device or Google Assistant device.
