Combo is iRobot's very first mop-and vacuum robot, and is the most stylish model from the company. The brushed aluminum top and iRobot Logo are more sophisticated than the loud designs from rivals.

The iRobot Home application is used to guide and configure your robot. The app collects usage data and maps of your home, which include obstacles and furniture. Maps and information about images are only shared when you have signed up.

It's a mop

The combo irobot [your input here], an extremely smart mopping robot, has all the capabilities of the superb Roomba J7+ and adds a reservoir of water onboard as well as mopping pads that are small and a robot arm which can lift and lower the pad. It is a fantastic tool of vacuuming, with no issues traversing large area rugs or transition strips between flooring surfaces. It's also able to pick up fine dust that many robotic vacuums don't. However, it's not good at mowing. It can't obliterate dried milk stains, for instance, unless you send it out four or five times.

IRobot's own Braava Jet M6 mopping machine, which is available in combination with the J7 Plus frequently for less than the combo Combo is much more effective at this and other tough jobs. It can even remove ketchup and wine spills, but I would not recommend it following any liquids with a high amount of sugar.

It's a vacuum

It's among the more attractive robot vacuums. The top of the piece is smooth and doesn't show dirt or fingerprints as easily as some competitors. The small dustbin and water tank of this vacuum are easy to open, but they're not the biggest. The Combo j7+ also has the features you'd are used to from iRobot including maps and obstacle avoidance maps that work efficiently and quickly. However, it's the mopping arm that really makes this a standout model in its class. The mop pad is placed on the top of the robot vacuum. When it detects a surface that needs mopping, the pad is lowered under and behind the robot vacuum. This is a major upgrade over other robot vacuums which require you to remove mop pads from carpets or hard floors manually. You can also switch off the entire unit to mop.

It's an electric charging station.

When you're ready to charge your Combo irobot, just place it on the charging station and align its metal contacts with the ones on the base. The charging station is simple to set up and operates well. In my testing, it took a few minutes for the robot to start charging and to make a noise when it was completed. When the Combo robot is fully charged, you can start a mapping run on the app to help the robot understand your home. The app also allows you to mark certain objects as permanent avoidances, like lamp cords. You can also connect Alexa or Google Assistant to your robot so that you can use voice commands for it to navigate around your home.

It's a smart device

Combo irobots make use of acoustic as well as onboard sensors to learn about the type of floor it's stepping on and the furniture in your home. This information is then combined with images taken by the robot's onboard camera and maps of your home, to create an individualized plan to clean each room. It is smart enough to avoid your couch, lamp cords as well as other objects you want to preserve. Of course, as with any other connected device there are concerns regarding the security of this data.
