For pets that shed fur, a robot vacuum/mop combo is one of the best floor cleaning options. It can mop and vacuum, and can even dry and clean its own mop pads.

It also has the most suction power of any robot we have examined, with 8,000Pa. It also allows you to organize cleaning schedules and save your house's maps using its app.

1. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni

The X2 Omni robot vacuum-mop is the most recent in the Ecovacs line of hybrid robot vacuum mops. This model is equipped with Ecovacs' new AIVI 3D 2.0 lidar system, which offers improved mapping and obstacles avoidance. The system is dual-laser LiDAR similar to the kind you'd find in self-driving cars -- and can scan an area of up to 32 feet in 270 degrees. This translates to more precise mapping, quicker response times, and higher cleaning accuracy.

It also has a rotating mopping pad made of chenille, which makes it easier to scrub hard areas unlike traditional mop. In my tests it was able to clean the X2 Omni washed its pad in just over a second and then got to work. I noticed that it was more precise than other models that seemed to follow the grid of rooms. It was able to navigate the corners and edges of my rooms, as well as make "Zambani patterns" across the middle of the room. It also returned to its OMNI station regularly to empty the trash bin and wash the mop with hot water before starting another clean-up job.

The most significant issue with the T10 Omni is that it's not able to switch between mopping and vacuuming in one go. The T10 Omni has two modes that require you to attach and remove mop heads depending on your requirements. This is fine for the majority of households, but not so for people who have a busy schedule.

However, the Deebot Omni is a superb robot vacuum that has impressive results in our pet hair tests. It vacuumed up more than 96% of the debris we tossed at it our hardwood flooring, which is an outstanding performance. It did an excellent job on tiles and carpets, removing 99% of dirt.

This robotic mop and vacuum comes with an enormous docking station which offers cool water auto-cleaning for its mop pads, auto-emptying into a 3L bag that's simple to replace, and hot-air drying for quick and easy maintenance. It also has a large tank of water that allows it to be rinsed and dried more frequently between mopping sessions.

In our tests of hardwood floors and kibble it performed well and was able to take everything from a single grain of rice to several pieces of dog food in one go. It had some trouble with rugs, but generally this vacuum cleaner is ideal for rooms with floors of different types and a mix of pets.

It's a bit expensive, but if you can handle the cost it's a great purchase for those who wish to be able to leave their homes hands-free to go about other tasks or take care of chores. The A4s Pro also offers a useful auto cleaning mode that automatically boosts suction power to tackle tough dirt and spills, and it includes batteries that power the ElectroWall which allows you to set boundaries that the robot is not allowed to enter.

This budget-friendly option from a well-known brand is the most affordable robot we've tested to date and offers an outstanding value for cost. Its navigation system is basic and uses a super-basic random pathing algorithm and lacks room mapping capabilities, which makes it less efficient than the other models on this list. It's still able get under furniture and into the corners. And its mopping mode performed very well in our tests by picking up hairs and other debris.

5. Shark iQ

Shark's iQ isn't as robust as the Roomba S9, but it does better overall at getting rid of pet hair on all surfaces. It gets rid of floors with less thoroughly and does a fair job on carpets with a low pile and also makes use of smart-pathing navigational technology for better maneuverability. It can be directed to a specific location, and includes a variety of advanced automation features, including no-go zones and schedules. It also allows you to stop and resume cleaning making it ideal for homes with pets.

The self-cleaning brushroll eliminates knots and holds up to 30 days of dirt. It has a set of side brushes that are angled to reach into corners, as well as a multi-stage filter system to capture dust, dander and allergens.

This vacuum feels solid and well-built, and it has a smartphone app that enables you to change the settings for your vacuum and plan cleaning sessions in advance.
