Control Cable Assemblies

Power and control cable assemblies are the brains of the operation in the cable assembly world. We are sure that you are in a commanding position to choose the apt power and control cables for your facility, now that you know all about them! Depending on the transmission system, power cables can be AC or DC. I should add that I can hear (and see) the laser module move slightly when the Play/Pause button is pressed to power on the player, providing it is going to switch on. The three types of control cable assemblies you will see on the market today include SY, YY, and SY types. You’ll most likely hear control cables being referred to as "instrumentation cable assemblies" or "signal cable assemblies". Control cables usually have an elaborate color coding, while power cables are often black and white. Colour Control cables are usually black with white alphabets or numbers while power cables have different colours. However, control cables have cores ranging from 2 to 61 in numbers! Power cables usually have a higher voltage than control wires at 0.6/1kV and higher.

Note that all of the below ONLY applies to host and devices (ie, drive controllers and drives) that BOTH declare they are hot plug capable. The drive before the twist will be drive B while the one on the end will be A. This way, there is no need to "configure" the drives which drive (A or B) are they going to be and what they should listen to. It is more common for them to have a copper conductor because of its superior conductivity. Copper and aluminium are primarily used due to their high electric conductivity, while polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the most common dielectric due to its great insulation capacity. These are multi conductor cables with aluminum or copper conductors. These are multi-conductor cables. True, a control cable assembly carries signals, but signal cables are typically utilized to transmit data, which means they’ll need engineering to combat electromagnetic interference (EMI). CY is going to be a flexible cable that has been bulked up with additional EMI protection. The cables that fall under this definition also need protection from crosstalk and EMI. Stranded cables include copper, tinned stranded, tinned conductors, or can include rare metals for max performance. SY cables are those with steel braided wire to be used in applications where max protection is key. Insulation Power cables require thicker insulation than control cables when working in the same environment. Due to the nature of the environment they are used in, these cables have to be flexible or flexing. Since power cables are used in an active environment and transfer a high amount of energy, they call for excellent sheathing.

Instrumentation cable assemblies also fall under these broad terms that are used interchangeably with control cables. However, there is a subtle difference between these terms.
