This wet-dry model is equipped with Ecovacs' upgraded AIVI 3D 2.0 lidar system that offers better mapping and obstacle avoidance. The system uses dual-laser LiDAR which is similar to what is used in self-driving cars -- and can scan up to 32 feet wide by 270 degrees. This results in more precise mapping, faster response times, and higher cleaning accuracy.

It also has a rotating mopping mat constructed of chenille, making it much easier to scrub hard areas than traditional mops. In my tests it was able to clean the X2 Omni washed its pad in just over a second and was ready to go. I noticed that it was more accurate than other models, which seemed to follow a grid around rooms. It was able to navigate the corners and edges of my rooms, and also make "Zambani patterns" both in and out of the middle of the room. It also returned to its OMNI station on a regular basis to empty the trash bin and wash the mop with hot water prior to starting another cleaning job.

Like other Ecovacs products, the X2 Omni is easy to set up and begin using. It takes just minutes to secure the dock into position, plug it in and connect to your home Wi-Fi network. Then, you can start the app and begin with your first cleaning project. I was able to dive into the settings and personalize my floor plan in less than 15 minutes, including creating restricted areas for mopping and sweeping, reworking my wall-mounted furniture placements, and so on. The X2 Omni impressed me during my tests. It scored highly in the areas of pet hair removal and debris removal. It also achieved near-perfect results in crevices and edge cleaning.

2. Deebot T10 Omni

The T10 Omni from ECOVACS is a powerful mopping and vacuum cleaner. It's a mid-range robot cleaner that's appealing even if its promise of being a one-stop-shop for floor cleaning does not come true.

The X8 Hybrid looks like a traditional robotic vacuum cleaner from the top, with its circular shape with sweeping wheels and a raised space for sensors. On the other side you'll find a motorized floorbrush and a single side brush that moves dust from the edges into the main artery of its' mouth.' It's smaller than the main brushes of the iRobot Roomba S9 which I found made it easier to reach under chairs and couches.

Its mapping system is fairly sophisticated that allows you to create no-mop zones as well as specific cleaning zones. However it is prone to get into things (including its charging dock) and isn't always great in climbing over rugs. It was effective in getting pet hair off of bare floors. This budget-friendly model from a popular upstart brand is the cheapest robot we've tested to date and offers an outstanding value for price. Its basic navigation system is based on a very basic random pathing algorithm and it's not equipped to map rooms. This renders it less efficient than other models in this list. It's still able to navigate under furniture and into the corners. And its mopping mode performed well in our tests and picked up hairs that were straying and other debris.

Shark's iQ may not be as well-built however it is superior at cleaning pet hair from all surfaces. It clears bare floors more thoroughly and does a fair job on low-pile carpet, and it uses smart-pathing navigational technology for better maneuverability. It can be sent to a specific location, and includes a variety of advanced automation features including no-go zones and schedules. It also allows you to pause and restart cleaning sessions which is ideal for homes with pets.
