The system is equipped with dual laser LiDAR that is similar to that found in self-driving vehicles. It can scan a space up to 32 feet by the 270-degree angle. This means more precise mapping and faster response times and greater cleaning accuracy.

It also comes with an adjustable mopping pad made of chenille, which makes it easier to scrub hard spots unlike traditional mop. In my tests the X2 Omni took just over one minute to clean its pad before getting to work, and I noticed that it was much more accurate than previous models that seemed to follow a grid path around rooms. It was capable of navigating my room's by the corners and edges as well as create an "Zambani pattern" that ran up and down the center of the room. It returned to its OMNI Station on a regular basis to empty the dustbin, and clean the mop using hot water, before starting another cleaning task.

The A4s Pro has a convenient auto-cleaning mode that increases suction to take on difficult dirt or spills. It also comes with a battery powered ElectroWall to establish boundaries for the robot.

This budget-friendly robot from a renowned brand is the cheapest we've ever tested and offers incredible value for the money. Its basic navigation system is based on a very basic random pathing algorithm and it's not able to map rooms. This makes it less efficient than the other models on this list. It's still able to navigate under furniture and in the corners. And its mopping mode performed very well in our tests and picked up hairs that were straying and other debris.

5. Shark iQ

Shark's iQ may not be as well-built however, it's better at cleaning pet hair from all surfaces. It cleans floors that are bare more thoroughly and does a fair job on carpets with low pile and also uses smart-pathing navigational technology for superior maneuverability. It also lets you assign it to a specific room, and its advanced set of automation features include no-go zones and scheduling. It allows you to stop and resume cleaning making it ideal for homes that have pets.

The self-cleaning brushroll is able to prevent knots from pet hair and other debris and its bagless self-emptying dock station can hold up to 30 days of dirt prior to needing to be cleaned. It has a set of side brushes that are angled to reach into corners and a multi-stage filter system that collects dust, allergens and dander.

This robot vacuum feels solid and well-built. It has a smartphone app that lets you change its vacuum settings and schedule cleaning sessions in advance. The app lets you view the remaining battery life of the iQ, and send push notifications when it encounters any problems during a cleaning session. You can utilize your voice to control the device using an Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device or, if you don't have either options, you can mark areas with physical boundary marker strips.

The iQ does a good job of clearing bare floors and does a decent job with shaggy and low-pile carpet, but it doesn't have the same degree of autonomy as our top selections. It's also costly and its ongoing costs can add up over time.
