It uses dual-laser LiDAR -- similar to what you'll find in self-driving vehicles -- and can scan an area of up to 32 feet wide by 270 degrees. Its mapping system allows you to create no-mop zones and specific cleaning zones. It has a tendency of hitting objects, including its own charging station, and isn't great at climbing over carpets. It was great at collecting pet hair off the floor. In our tests, it picked up 89.5 percent of cat litter.

Its basic navigation system uses an extremely basic random pathing algorithm, but it doesn't have room mapping capabilities, making it less efficient than the other models on this list. However it's still able navigate under furniture and into corners and its mopping feature worked very well during our tests and was able to pick up pet hair and other debris easily.

Shark's iQ isn't quite as robust as the Roomba S9, but it does better overall at cleaning up pet hair on all surfaces. It also allows you to assign it to a specific room, and its advanced suite of automation features include no-go zones as well as scheduling.
