This is a great option when you're looking for a basic robot cleaner without the advanced features of other models. It is capable of picking up pet hair, kitty litter, and Cheerios on hardwood floors. It even sucked up sand in my tests.

It is fast and accurate in mapping rooms, and it does a great job of avoiding obstacles. It can also be manually controlled via the included remote.

1. iRobot Roomba s9+

The s9+ is the most effective robot vacuum we've tested cleaning hard floors and carpeting. It has some of the strongest suction of any robotic cleaner on the market and does an excellent job of getting rid of pet hair. It can be programmed to make multiple passes or adjust suction levels based on the size of the room, a feature that we haven't seen in other models. Its app lets you customize the way it functions and decide when it begins working so you can be in the room while it's working.

The smart mapping feature generates a detailed map of your home to aid the s9+ in navigation and design efficient routes. It's also self-emptying, so it doesn't require any intervention from you during the cleaning process and can return to its base and recharge during the cleaning (though you might hear it rumble back to its dock as it gets settled, a sound that sounds like jet engine takeoff). The s9+ could move around obstacles like tables and power cables with any difficulty. It never lost its charge and didn't get stuck. It does not have the hazard-avoidance features of recent models, and it can get caught in tassels of rug and other obstructions it is unable to see.

Unlike most circular robots, the s9+ has a flat front and has an angled front that lets it access corners better than models with rounded fronts. It is also quieter than our previous iRobot robot and more compact than the Neato Botvac D7. It's not cheap, but you will get plenty for your money considering how well it performs and you don't have to worry about emptying the dirty bin afterward. It's also often on sale at Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Amazon Prime Day.

2. IRobot Roomba J7+

The J7+ is among the smartest robot cleaners available. It is equipped with iRobot Genius Technology, which allows it to sense obstacles and navigate around them. This means that you do not have to be concerned about the robot striking furniture or walls. It also slows down when it approaches an object, so that it can gently scrub edges. This is particularly beneficial for pets with small sizes who leave their messes behind.

The j7+ can also mop and vacuum due to a mopsitter. When it recognizes that you're on a surface that requires mopping it will switch to the standard cleaning mode and activates the robot arm with an attached pad. It sweeps the floor with an eerily-smooth motion that left my floors feeling and looking like they'd been properly cleaned.

After it's finished mopping the j7+, it returns to its dock and recharges. It then drives to the spot where it started, and continues cleaning. It can run for around 85 minutes at my house and can be minus or plus a few minutes. It's not as impressive as the s9+, but still impressive for a device which can vacuum and mop.

As with other iRobot cleaners, the j7+ spots obstacles that block its path and eliminates them. It also has what iRobot calls Cliff Detect Technology, which prevents it from falling down stairs. It's an excellent safety feature for families.

The onboard bin of the j7+ is small, which means you will need return it to the dock to empty it frequently if your home is large. The j7+ can be tucked away easily. The all-in-one Clean Base comes with a charging dock as well as an external dustbin and an internal bin where the j7+ can deposit dirt.

3. Shark iQ

This robot can vacuum carpets and hard surfaces simultaneously. Matrix Clean Navigation is also included, which makes use of grids to cover the entire home. The vacuum empties itself after each run and you can view its current battery life and status with two lights at the top. Press the button to open the bin and empty it. It can accommodate up to a full week's worth trash and is easy to empty from any part of the home.

This model is impressive on bare floors but struggles on floors with low pile. It also struggles to hold large amounts of debris when the dirt compartment gets filled. It is robust and long-lasting battery life. You can extend this by using the energy efficient Eco mode'.

The Shark IQ is compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and allows you to control it with your voice. The app lets you identify your robot (mine's Sharky Shark), program and remotely run its runs, view your cleaning history and get alerts for errors. You can even create an outline of your home and manually set zones that are not allowed to enter.

The Shark iQ costs more than the iRobot Roomba j7+ but has superior mapping and app features and superior performance on all surfaces. It also charges faster and gets stuck on rug tassels fewer frequently, which reduces the amount of time it takes to pay. This model isn't able to keep away from pets or furniture. You must use physical boundaries strips to keep the model from these objects.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The Roomba 694 is an elegant and stylish design that will complement your home decor. It is a great robot for those seeking a device that they can put in place and forget about. It identifies your habits for cleaning to create a customized schedule and can be used with Google Assistant or Alexa voice assistants to let you start cleaning with the sound of Revolutionize Your Cleaning with iRobot Roomba Combo J5+ voice. It makes use of a wide range of sensors to navigate the obstacles that surround your home. A smart bumper cushions the impact of bumps against furniture legs or walls. Four "cliff" sensors on the sides and front inform it that it is about to approach the edge of a dropoff, such as stairs or a balcon, and it's able to back away.

This model is a fantastic value in the sub-$300 robotic vacuum category. It features a three stage cleaning system and two multi-surface brushes to remove dirt from carpeted and hard floors and an edge-sweeping tool will take care of edges and corners. The Eufy 11s is a small and attractive robot vacuum that provides an excellent value for the money. It is able to remove pet hair efficiently and has a huge dirt compartment and can run for a long duration on just one charge. It's not easy to maintain and has issues with navigation. It doesn't come with voice control or a companion app but has a simple to use remote. It doesn't inform you when the bin is full. You'll have to check it frequently.

The eufy comes with many advantages over the bObsweep Bob Pro, but in certain areas it's not as efficient as the iRobot Roomba 694. The iRobot Roomba 694 is more built, has fewer parts to keep in good condition, a HEPA filter and lasts longer on one charge, and provides superior cleaning performance for floors that are bare as well as high-pile and low-pile. It also has a more sophisticated navigation system that can maneuver over obstacles and incorporate more advanced automation features, such as boundary strips.

The iRobot Roomba 900 Series is the better choice for most users, even although the eufy remains a good option. The iRobot Roomba 900 Series is easy to maintain, more durable and has a bigger dustbin and is more efficient on all surfaces. It's also quicker to recharge and offers a longer maximum battery life.

The eufy robot is also superior to the ILIFE A4s but not as great as the top-end models like the Roborock S7 maxV Ultra. The iRobot is more durable and has a larger dust bin, and incurs fewer recurring costs. It also has a better navigation system that can move over obstacles and has more advanced automation capabilities, such as boundary strips. The iRobot also absorbs pet hair more effectively, and is easier to maintain than the eufy.
